Hello Mr. Frobeen,

I finally get to get in touch with you. We had an amazing vacation, it was just great. Galapagos was the absolute dream for us. We were also totally lucky with our fellow travelers.

We met really nice people from all over the world. The Anahi was a great ship. In the first week we were particularly lucky with our captain, who took good care of us.

The guide in the first week wasn't that interested in us, but in the second week we had a great, spirited guide and a less than good captain. But the islands are absolutely worth seeing and for us it is already clear that we were not there for the last time. Thank God we didn't notice anything of the earthquake. The tour was also very nice, the haciendas one even more beautiful than the other.

Unfortunately, due to the volcanic eruption closures, we could not climb the refuge on Cotopaxi, but of course we were on the 2nd hut on Chimborazo.

We were able to do the ascent in 40 minutes and we had a very nice local guide. We found the Indiginas generally very nice and friendly.

I was able to use my freshly learned, microscopic Spanish skills and that was very fun. But I learned a lot and understood them well.

Our guide was a former national champion in rally driving and you noticed that in parts :-) Mario drove a hot tire, so that on the 3rd day on the mountain we had a hot engine with a total loss.

But everything went well with a replacement vehicle and we were able to continue the program without any problems. We had a bit of bad luck in the rainforest.

The first 1,5 days it rained unbelievably so that we couldn't go on a tour. So we had to use the remaining 2 days to see something, but we still saw a lot.

The lodge was hardly visited, which we thought was a shame, it is really very beautiful.

Regards
S. Schmidt-Bellinghoff
