Description

Posada Amazonas is a cozy, inconspicuous 24-room lodge. Thanks to the easy access, the fantastic observation possibilities and the simple but comfortable accommodations, Posada Amazonas is the perfect, short introductory tour of the Amazon rainforest.
The lodge is located in the area of ​​the Infierno Indians and was built in collaboration with the locals using traditional materials and construction techniques. This project not only shows an alternative use of the rainforest, but also supports sustainable development in this area by involving the local population. A total of 18 positions in the role play are filled by the Infierno Indians. They participate equally in all decisions and ecotourism also promotes their traditional handicrafts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 1

Puerto Maldonado / Posada Amazonas

Posadad Amazonas

Reception at the airport in Puerto Maldonado. You can safely stow a large part of your luggage here before continuing to the jetty. With a motorized canoe you can reach the Posada Amazonas. During the boat trip you can observe various species of birds typical of the region.

 

 

 

 

Tambopata Posada Amazon

Upon arrival at the lodge, you will receive a brief introduction to the lodge and the ecotourism project. In the afternoon you set off to a nearby, 35 m high observation tower, from which you can enjoy a unique view over the peaks of the rainforest and the river.

Day 2

Posada Amazon

At sunrise you set off for the “Tres Chimbadas” lake. On a canoe tour along the lake shore, keep an eye out for giant otters, turtles and various water birds. On the way back to the lodge you will pass the salt licks called collpas, where colorful macaws and parrots frolic.

After lunch at Posada Amazonas, visit the ethnobotany center of a local community. Here you will learn more about local culture and the locals' longstanding relationship with the rainforest.
