Manú is the largest tropical park in South America and was declared a World Reserve of the Biosphere by UNESCO in 1977. In Manu, the forests are almost intact and hardly touched by civilization. Here you can still see the natural habitat of some critically endangered species.

Day 1

Cuzco / cloud forest

You leave Cuzco very early in the morning and drive through interesting Andean valleys and picturesque farming villages, first to the preinca tombs of Ninamarca and the colonial village of Paucartambo. Day 2

Cloud forest / Atalaya / Erika

Very early in the morning you can watch the interesting courtship dance of the Peruvian national bird Gallito de las Rocas from a platform. After breakfast, continue to the port of Atalaya on the Alto Madre de Dios river. After a short boat ride you will reach the private reserve "Erika" on the border between the high and low-lying primeval forest.

Day 3

Erika / Boca Manu / PV Limonal

Today you continue on the Alto Madre de Dios River to Boca Manu, where you begin your journey on the Manú River. When hiking through the rainforest, you will marvel at the diversity of flora and fauna. Overnight in tent camp. F / LB / A

 

 

 

 

Day 4

PV Limonal / Cocha Salvador

Today you will cross the Manú River into the nature reserve (Zona Reservada) of the Manú National Park. At the Limonal guard station, register in the official tourist book and then continue your boat trip to the Cocha Salvador tent camp, where you can observe a variety of birds, caimans and various mammals along the way. During a night excursion by catamaran on the Cocha Salvador, you can watch the black caiman in search of prey with the help of flashlights.

Day 5

Cocha Salvador / Otorongo / Cocha Salvador

On a catamaran excursion on the Cocha Salvador, you can see some animal species, such as For example, watch the critically endangered giant otter, the black caiman and spider monkeys. When you return to the camp, breakfast is already waiting for you. Then you undertake a four-hour hike into the primary forest to the Cocha Otorongo. At the edge of this lagoon there is a 15 m high observation tower, which is ideal for observing the giant otters.

Cocha Salvador / Boca Manu / Tambo Blanco

Return over the Manú River to Boca Manú to the Madre de Dios River. In the afternoon you will reach the private reserve of Tambo Blanco with many interesting trails for exciting jungle excursions.

Day 7

Tambo Blanco / Collpa of the Guacamayos / Boca Manu / Cuzco

In the early morning you can watch from a hidden observation site of guacamayos and parrots, which carefully approach the mud wall (collpa) in order to take in the minerals and salts necessary for their nutrition. You will experience an unforgettable spectacle here. You will then return to Boca Manu by boat, from where you will fly back to Cuzco. Alternatively, you can join the tour on day 3 and instead of a long bus ride from Cuzco to the National Park, take the flight from Cuzco to Boca Manu. F / - / -
