Day 1
Cuzco - arrival
Reception at the airport and transfer to the selected hotel in Cuzco. We recommend resting for the rest of the morning to adjust to the altitude. In the afternoon you will visit the Plaza de Armas in the center of the city, the cathedral and the sun temple Korikancha on a city tour. In the district of San Blas, where the most famous artists and craftsmen of Cuzco live and work, visit the church of San Blas with its impressive pulpit made of wood, and visit some of the artist workshops.
Then you leave the city center to visit the surrounding Inca ruins of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman. F / - / -
Day 2
The sacred valley of the Incas
Excursion to the sacred valley of the Inca. Your first destination is the Pisac Inca Cathedral. In this important archaeological site you will visit z. B. the astrological observatory, the magnificent walls, the towers and the sundial. Then you have the opportunity (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) to visit the typical colorful Indian market. Lunch in a restaurant in the Urubambatal.
In the afternoon, the fortress of Ollantaytambo is on your program. The fortress was built to guard the entrance to the valley and protect it from possible invasions by the jungle population. The fortress consists of several superimposed terraces. Later you will have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of the village and get an insight into this military, religious and cultural center of the Inca.
On the way back to Cuzco visit the quaint village of Chinchero. Here are the remains of the royal hacienda of Tupac Inka Yupanqui. F / - / -
Day 3
Cuzco / Machu Picchu / Cuzco
Early in the morning transfer to the train station in Cuzco. A three-hour train ride to Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas, begins here. From the train station in Aguas Calientes you can take a bus that zigzags up to the wonderful citadel for 30 minutes. The tour of the citadel leads through the main square, to the round tower and the sundial, on to the royal rooms, the temple of the three windows and the cemetery. You will then have ample opportunity to take a stroll through the legendary Inca fortress on your own. Lunch in a restaurant in Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon return by train to Cuzco. Day 4
Cuzco
The unique, colonial city of Cuzco takes you back to the Inca era! Free time. Enjoy this Inca city, stroll through the interesting, narrow alley and visit, for example, a cozy Peña (bar) to end the day. Overnight in Cuzco. F / - / -
