Description
This module combines Cuzco with a 4-day hike on the famous Inca Trail. The first 2 days correspond to those of the module "Cuzco and the legendary Machu Picchu".
On the 3rd day you do not go directly to Machu Picchu, but start the hike to this famous Inca fortress. The path leads over steps from the Inca period through varied landscapes and opens up magnificent views of the Andean valleys.
Day 1
Cuzco - Inca Trail
Reception at the airport and transfer to the selected hotel in Cuzco. We recommend resting for the rest of the morning to adjust to the altitude. In the afternoon you will visit the Plaza de Armas in the center of the city, the cathedral and the sun temple Korikancha on a city tour. In the district of San Blas, where the most famous artists and craftsmen of Cuzco live and work, visit the church of San Blas with its impressive pulpit made of wood, and visit some of the artist workshops. Then you leave the city center to visit the surrounding Inca ruins of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman. FA
Day 2
The sacred valley of the Incas
Excursion to the sacred valley of the Inca. Your first destination is the Pisac Inca Cathedral. In this important archaeological site you will visit z. B. the astrological observatory, the magnificent walls, the towers and the sundial. Then you have the opportunity (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) to visit the typical colorful Indian market. Lunch in a restaurant in the Urubambatal.
In the afternoon, the fortress of Ollantaytambo is on your program. The fortress was built to guard the entrance to the valley and protect it from possible invasions by the jungle population. The fortress consists of several superimposed terraces. Later you will have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of the village and get an insight into this military, religious and cultural center of the Inca.
On the way back to Cuzco visit the quaint village of Chinchero. Here are the remains of the royal hacienda of Tupac Inka Yupanqui. F / - / -
Day 3
Cuzco / Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (Chilca, Wayllabamba, Llactapata)
You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning and driven to the Urubamba bus station. After a little refreshment, you continue to Chilca, the starting point of your hike on the Urubamba River. The slight but constant inclines are ideal for "warming up" on the first day. After a three-hour hike, you will have a first long break for lunch. Then you hike to the first tent camp in Wayllabamba. Guided tour of the Llactapata archaeological complex.

Day 4
Inca trail to Machu Picchu (Warmiwañusca, Pacaymayo)
Breakfast and then start of the hike to the highest point of the Inca Trail. During the ascent to the Warmiwañusca pass at 4.200m you can observe different microclimates. After lunch, continue your hike and arrive at your tent camp in Pacaymayo in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in tent camp. F / LB / A
Day 5
Inca trail to Machu Picchu (Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Puyupatamarca, Wiñaywayna)
Breakfast and start of the hike. After 45 minutes you will reach the second pass of the Inca Trail (3.850 m). You will tour the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and then visit the citadel of Sayacmarca. Then continue your hike towards Puyupatamarca.
Having lunch. In the afternoon you will hike towards Wiñaywayna and visit this beautiful Inca citadel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 6
Inca trail to Machu Picchu
After breakfast you start the last section of your hike towards Machu Picchu. At the Sun Gate Inti Punku, a first fantastic view of the legendary Inca fortress Machu Picchu opens up on a clear day. When you arrive at the fortress, your guide will let you in on the secrets of the Inca ruins with little anecdotes. After that you will have enough time to explore the old Inca city on your own.
In the late afternoon you set out for Aguas Calientes, a small town at the foot of Machu Picchu. In the afternoon your train goes back to Cuzco. Transfer to the selected hotel. F / - / -
Day 7
Cuzco
The unique, colonial city of Cuzco takes you back to the Inca era! Free time. Enjoy this Inca city, stroll through the interesting, narrow alley and visit, for example, a cozy Peña (bar) to end the day. Overnight in Cuzco. F / - / -
