Papallacta thermal spring

 

From Quito (2.850 m) a delightful serpentine route leads about 57 kilometers in an easterly direction to the high pass of Papallacta (4.064 m). After a further 10 kilometers and a total of around 1,5 hours' drive, you will reach the picturesquely located Termas de Papallacta thermal baths (3.220 m). The crystal clear water of the hot, alkaline thermal springs is rich in minerals. 

 

 

 

 

In the thermal swimming pool you can find relaxation and at the same time use the healing effect (e.g. for rheumatic diseases). In addition to the warm thermal water pools, small swimming pools with cold spring water are available for alternating baths.

You can stay overnight in the cozy Termas de Papallacta guest house.
In the Posada's restaurant, tasty dishes such as freshly caught trout are served. Try a trout cordon bleu! Enjoy the clear mountain air and spend a relaxing time in this magical mountain landscape! You can hike on site or rent horses for a ride.

 

You can take the excursion to the thermal springs of Papallacta especially on days off from Quito, if you have "air" between your highland tour and the subsequent program (eg Galápagos)!
